PD Dr. Stefanie Müller

   

Stefanie Müller was assistant professor for American literature and cultural studies at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main from 2007 to 2017. From 2014 to 2017 she was a Feodor-Lynen Fellow at the English Department at UC Irvine in Southern California and a Von Humboldt Visiting Fellow at the John-F.-Kennedy Institute at Freie Universität Berlin. Her dissertation, The Presence of the Past in the Novels of Toni Morrison, was published by Universitätsverlag Winter in 2013. She submitted her second thesis (Habilitation) in April 2018 and received the venia legendi for American Studies in December 2018. The Habilitation is titled The Corporation in the American Imagination, 1819-1904 and explores the development of the American business corporation as metaphor and legal instrument in fictional and factual narratives of the nineteenth century. She is currently serving as Deputy Chair of American Studies at WWU Muenster.
