To young people, politics and the media in our everyday lives have substantially different meanings. Many young people are seen as fixed on the media, while at the same time distancing themselves from politics. But how intimate is the relationship between these two phenomena? This question is equally relevant for research in areas of political culture, communication, and youth and will be an example from a representative survey for students in Rhineland-Palatinate. With special emphasis placed on political communication and media use, this particular survey illuminates the political attitudes of teenagers and can explain differences and similarities in their political orientations.
