VITA:

Dr. Stefan Engert joined the J. W. Goethe University Frankfurt/M. in August of 2009. He is a member of the research project “Transformation of Security Culture” funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is one of the authors at http://www.sicherheitspolitik-blog.de.

He studied Political Science, Law and Economics at the Darmstadt University of Technology and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth (UK) from 1994 until 2000 (M.A. Political Science). From 2001 to 2005, he worked as a Scientific Researcher at the universities of Darmstadt and Mannheim. In June 2005 he earned his Ph.D., his thesis was titled “Explaining EU Enlargement and Socialization: Turkey and Cyprus” (published by Routledge). Afterwards he joined the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (Geschwister Scholl Institute) as an Assistant Professor, where he co-directed a research project on “Apologies and reconciliation in international relations” funded by the German Foundation for Peace Research and worked on the editorial team of the German Journal of International Relations (ZIB). Stefan Engert has taught in Darmstadt, Munich, Frankfurt/M. as well as Berlin (FU) and was a visiting lecturer (Erasmus) at the University of Birmingham (POLSIS, Prof. Thomas Diez).
