The Faculty Council advises on matters of fundamental importance (Section 49 (1) Hessian Higher Education Act). It is responsible, for example, for issuing study and examination regulations and for proposals for the establishment and discontinuation of degree programmes as well as for the coordination of research projects and decisions on appointment proposals by the Appointments Committee. The Faculty Council is composed of seven representatives from among the professors, two representatives of mid-level academic staff, three representatives of the student body and one representative of the administrative and technical staff. The Equal Opportunities Council participates in the Faculty Council in an advisory capacity.
