The Study Commission convenes regularly to discuss current matters in conjunction with studies and teaching. These governing bodies are committees appointed by the Faculty Council.
The commission was established in 2014 and deals with studies and teaching, above all quality assurance and the further development of the degree programmes offered at the Faculty of Social Sciences. This is done, among others, on the basis of results from evaluations conducted centrally and decentrally (for instance teaching evaluation, formative degree programme evaluation, etc.). In addition, the Study Commission prepares Faculty Council votes.
The Study Commission is composed of four members from the status group of professors, two members from the status group of mid-level academic staff and four members from the status group of students. The programme directors of the degree programmes offered at the faculty are invited as advisory members. A representative of the Examination Office is also invited as an advisory member. The Dean of Studies presides.
The programme directors for the MA in Political Theory and the MA in International Studies/Peace and Conflict Research at TU Darmstadt as well as their representatives are invited on a regular basis to Study Commission meetings as advisory members. In addition, further guests of TU Darmstadt can be invited following an informal request to the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
