Anonym in Edinburgh veröffentlichte Schrift.

Strictures Upon the Political Parties in the City of Edinburgh: Together with a Statement of Authenticated Circumstances and Facts, which Merit the Particular and Immediate Attention, Both of the Honourable Magistrates, and All the Inhabitants of that City. Edinburgh 1800.

Die vorliegende Quelle beschäftigt sich mit den Parteien der Stadt Edinburgh. Der Autor selbst betont in diesem Zusammenhang seine Unparteilichkeit. Sein Ziel sei es, die Aufmerksamkeit der Bevölkerung von den unwichtigen Parteienkämpfen zu den wichtigen Problemen der Stadt zu leiten. 

Parteien werden zwar kritisiert, ihre Rolle im System jedoch nicht abgelehnt. Gleichzeitig wird die Unabhängigkeit von Parteien als hohes Gut angesehen. 

Einstellung:  

• Kritik an Parteistreitigkeiten und negativer Beeinflussung der Bevölkerung
• Anerkennung der Rolle von Parteien im System (Zusammenschluss von Personen mit gemeinsamen Prinzipien).

"[...] it consists of nothing more than a combination of certain persons who positively promise and engage to stand by and support each other in the administration of every thing respecting the Community, in the government of which they either have, or wish to have a concern."
